A Love, Imagined

Student Film shooting in cambridge

A contemplative film about a young man distant from reality, consumed by an imaginary love that can never come true.

The film aims to epitomise a young disillusioned mindset, yet offer a spiritual revelation of beauty and rebirth by the concluding scene. Made by a strong team of students at the Cambridge School of Art, A Love, Imagined is a poetic film which will experiment with the areas of realism and physical performance within acting.

The Young Man

A student struggling with a dream of love he wishes were real. He often falls into short trances, de-realised and distant, unable to connect with anything or anyone. A melancholia derived from the uncertainty of his young and delicate emotions. He retreats into his bedroom alone, forsaken to exorcise his chaotic thoughts through a spiritual dance.

The Young Woman

Their relationship is fragile, she does not know him. She is timid and wants a sense of normality, but her life is limited by him. She realises she is the only one who can help him reveal his feelings and admit the concealed anxieties of his mind. And she must push for this, despite her natural diffidence.

Shooting Dates

Scenes 2 and 3 will be shot during the Spring of 2018, when the weather is still capricious and summer flora has not yet blossomed. There will be two consecutive afternoons required for this, one for rehearsals, and another for the shoot. A weekend in late April, early May.

Scene 1 will be shot in Summer 2018; any single day from May until early September - whenever availabilities permit. The location will be Grantchester Meadows.
